With Martha is a place for people to come and feel relaxed, rejuvenated and inspired. We hold exclusive gardening days for small groups of beginner gardeners or for people who just want to swap gardening tips in a beautiful part of Hampshire.
A series of relaxed and practical gardening sessions to expand your knowledge and help boost your confidence in taking control of your own garden.
In 2020 our plant sale will be held on the 12th of May between 11am and 1pm.
The garden here is not a show garden, it is a space for all the family to enjoy; we have real weeds and problem areas so don’t be intimidated. Sue Warren, our head gardener and expert plantswoman with over 20 years of practical experience of garden maintenance, will lead the small group. For exact dates and bookings please email firstname.lastname@example.org
Timing: 11.00am - 1.00pm £30 pp per session including refreshments upon arrival (groups will be restricted to ten people)
We can arrange a light lunch afterwards if you're planning to come with a group of friends (please email for costs and timings).
March 17th : Where to start?
A walk around the garden identifying seasonal points of interest and jobs with tips on getting the garden ready, border planning and maintenance. The session can include a quick lesson on rose pruning or mulching if anybody feels they need it.
We’ll take a look at the equipment you need to sow your own seeds, attempt to decode seed catalogues, translate common gardening jargon and have a hands on seed sowing session.
April 28th: Seeds and Weeds: Maximum impact, minimum effort!
Gardens at this time of year can feel out of control with plants (hopefully) all enjoying the spring weather. We’ll walk around the garden identifying seasonal points of interest and discussing how to get, and keep, your garden under control. Unfortunately, weeds will also be growing well at this time of year so we’ll identify some of the more common ones and the different tactics for dealing with them.
We’ll take a look at the next stage of growing your own plants from seed; pricking out and potting on.
May 12th: Plant Sale
Sue will have a selection of her own, home-grown plants for sale and will be happy to help you choose the best plants for any particular position. A wide range of hardy perennials and choice annuals and vegetable plants ready to be planted out in your own garden.
